The Marans breed is known for their gorgeous dark reddish-brown egg. Their feathered legs comes from their origins in Marans, France. Any Marans with clean, non-feathered legs are of the "English" type. We don't compete with ours, but we still enjoy raising "French" Marans and collecting their dark colored eggs.
